Hi All

Here is the first draft of a cave geology font. it delineates the strat=
a
in Carboniferous limestone and is therefore suitable for over 90% of the =
UK
caves.

I suugest that in preparing a survey the symbols be allocated as follows:=
-

One at each entrance and for each of the main routes a symbol at the poin=
t
which marks the top of each stratum.

It would be possible to expand it to include key fossil types but there a=
re
a lot of these and no regular symbolic method of differentiating them. =
I
think thay therefore best inserted as text notation. The D2, K1 notati=
on
on the other hand is well known to geologists.

If this approach is agreed I will see about adding additional symbols to
this font for other cavernous UK limestones (magnesian, oolitic, devonian=
).

A separate font will be necessary for mines and underground quarries due =
to
the range of strata involved.

Harry
